Master Guitar Clinic with Tuck Andress, Deputized Raccoon
This past Sunday, we had the pleasure of hosting Tuck Andress, guitar virtuoso and half of the American jazz duo, Tuck & Patti, for a master jazz clinic at the Blue Raccoon Tunes studio. It was an intimate event open to our current and past guitar students, their families and a few very fortunate friends! Tuck and Patti were in town performing their annual August shows at Blues Alley in Georgetown, and Tuck generously and enthusiastically agreed to spend his free Sunday afternoon speaking and working with our students.
A couple of our students were brave enough to put their guitars on their laps and play a tune with Tuck. They received his warm and thoughtful feedback, practical advice on technique and practice strategy, and the reminder to embrace wholeheartedly the opportunity for musical discovery during each moment they spend with their instruments.
One did not have to be a guitar player, a musician or a jazz aficionado to come away from the afternoon inspired to give themselves completely to the task at hand however mundane or redundant it may feel, and to most of all always be open, kind and magnanimous with one’s knowledge, time and expertise.
We thank Tuck and all of our clinic attendees for joining us on Sunday and for being such a special part of our lives!
