Carey T. Smith, MA
Carey has been teaching adults and young students how to play guitar and he has been playing jazz guitar professionally for twenty years. While his institutional education includes degrees from Georgetown Prep, Georgetown University (BA in Classics and music) and the University of Virginia (MA in Classics), he has studied privately with Tuck Andress, Steve Abshire, Paul Wingo and Justin Lees. Carey performs in the DC area and has worked with Chuck Redd, John Jensen, Dave Wundrow, Dominic Smith, Robert Redd, Percy Smith, Bertell Knox, Bhagwan Khalsa and other greats of jazz music. He has released two albums for Patuxent Music: Introducing C.T. Smith and His Sic ‘em Boys and C.T. Smith and Friends Play Harold Arlen. His third record, Birdy, celebrates music associated with Charlie Parker.
Heather Hill, MSW, LGSW
Heather manages all of the administrative work necessary for Carey’s teaching and performing. A graduate of BCC High School, the University of Virginia (BA) and Catholic University (MSW), she is a licensed social worker at Iona Senior Services. She also spent three years as a social worker at the National Institutes of Health, where she worked with adult cancer patients. Caring for and working with people constitute the core of her contribution to Blue Raccoon Tunes. Whether accommodating busy students’ schedules or booking jazz to complement your venue, Heather’s easy manner and consummate organizational skills win lasting satisfied customers!
